Mr. Macphisto is Bono's character for zoo tv tour, it was a way to have the rock band make fun of themselves and also talk about money, fame, television, media.. etc etc.. he also had other characters:: mirrorball preacher man, the FLY etc, but mr macphisto was the most popular :) he described him as a cross between elvis, the devil and an aging lounge singer LOL, watch the ZOO TV tour to see how crazy he gets, lol
