(CBS13) ― Authorities are mounting a frantic search for a missing teen girl after her friend reported being abducted in front of Live Oak High School. The California Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for 14-year-old Elvia Flores. Elvia's mother told authorities that she dropped off Elvia and her 14-year-old friend at school before 8:30 a.m. Monday. According Sutter County Sheriff's Sergeant Glenn Mercer, the 14-year-old friend of Flores said they were walking toward the school when Flores yelled, "run." The girl told investigators she was then grabbed from behind and pulled into a car. She describes four to five Hispanic men being in the vehicle. One of them may have been tall, wearing a black T-shirt and black ball cap with the word "NorCal" in either red or orange. They were reportedly driving a large, light brown sedan. The missing girl's friend told investigators she woke up in an open field in Orland, about 63 miles from the high school's campus. A California Highway Patrol officer picked up the girl and brought her to the Orland Police Department, where her parents picked her up. The girl told investigators she didn't remember what happened between the time she was allegedly kidnapped and when she woke up in the Orland field. The girl's parents drove her home and called the Sutter County Sheriff's Department, who sent an investigator to her home around 3:00 p.m. Monday. Authorities then contacted Flores' mother to tell her Elvia was missing. A CARE alert was issued just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. When asked why they waited more than six hours to issue the alert, Sheriff's officials said they were taking the necessary time to corroborate the friend's story. Elvia is described as a Hispanic female, about 5'2" tall, 110 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. Authorities told CBS13 they have no reason to be suspicious of the girl's story. Late Monday afternoon, they interviewed school staff about both girls, hoping to gain information that will help them find Elvia. They will be back at Live Oak High School on Tuesday morning to conduct more interviews.
